Heritage Week at Torr Vale Mill

Friday, September 15, 2023 - 12:00 PM to Saturday, September 16, 2023 - 4:00 PM

cotton mill loom

Come and visit Torr Vale Mill and learn about some of our heritage. We will be open to the public as part of the Heritage Open Days across the UK. As you come into the Cotton Room, you can see some of our historic photographs and video footage of the mills working history. The bar will be open for tea and coffee and there will be activities for the children. The Needlework Room is on the top floor and will be open to the public for the first time. You will be able to enjoy views which the public have not been able to do before and see a timeline of the mill’s history. Please note this is only accessible by stairs and is 3 flights up from the Cotton Room. However, the Cotton Room is fully accessible. While you’re there also check out local handweavers and textile artists, Wiseheart and Wild with their working looms for a hands on experience and The Cheese Wheel, who will be sharing selections of heritage cheese.

We invite local artists to present their work on the mill and surrounding heritage sites for the festival. Please contact info@torrvalemill.co.uk if you would like to get involved. This includes all creative industries – artists, paintings, photography, models, you name it! During the week, some of our local school children will have had the opportunity to explore their creative skills which we will exhibit along with local artists work. We look forward to seeing you there!
