Relight the Lanterns – Town Meeting

On Tuesday 21st March at 7pm the whole community is invited to join us at New Mills Town Hall to help make decisions about the future of the lantern procession. We’ve spent two months out in the community listening to what people have to say and endless hours working on the feasibility of your ideas. At the meeting: Everyone who attends will be given a voting card There will be a short presentation of the options that are available to us Participants will be invited to chat with each other and ask any questions they may have Participants will be asked to complete their voting cards and hand them in on their way out. “I want to be sure that any decision we make is that of everyone who wants to have a say and not just the will of the loudest voice in the room.” – festival co-ordinator, Kate Badger Every participant’s vote will be given equal weight and we will publish the results. We are hoping for a high turnout at this meeting as we know how much the lantern procession means to the community. In the event that we exceed the Town Hall’s 250 capacity, we will have time to repeat the process within the hour and people will be let in as people leave. In order to maximise capacity, the meeting will be standing room only. Some seating, however, will be available for those who cannot stand.
